Gite news - and what's happening in the Dordogne (updated 11/10/2017)

Bookings

@ 11/10/2017 This summer season has been superb in terms of bookings, with a number of guests returning for a second or third time so far! If you are already thinking of next year (or even a short break this year), check availability on the Prices & Availability page). - Interest is on the up. This is not only us, but across the board in France, so maybe a decision sooner rather than later to avoid missing out this year!

ALSO!! - If you book by the end of December 2017, we will offer a 10% discount (and more if you are a returning guest)!!!

Airports

Brive le Gaillarde (www.aeroport-brive-vallee-dordogne.com), which is the closest airport to us (c45 mins), has recently opened it doors to RyanAir, flying to and from Stansted, in Essex, as well as Airfrance/Jet2 (London City). Also for Dutch travelling to the area, RyanAir fly from Amsterdam.

Other nearby airports (Bergerac & Limoges @ c1.5 hrs driving time) and Bordeaux (2.5 hrs away), are still reliably serving the Aquitaine region.

Exchange Rate

Anybody who is considering buying a property in France this year, will be pleased to hear that the market is beginning to move again. Owners are becoming far more realistic with their prices. We have noticed an increase in house sales in the area. This combined with a levelling in Sterling / Euro exchange rates (€1.12 / £1.00 current Interbank rate) will still make it worthwhile considering France as an investment.

Other News

This year, the newest local prehistoric attraction Lascaux IV, opened to acclaim. Some our guests this year, have said its the best reconstruction to date, with many new technological gadgets to enhance the experience (including a VR tour!)
