Gite news - and what's happening in the Dordogne (updated 2/03/2018)

@ 2/3/2018 Its only March, but in terms of summer bookings, with a number of guests returning for a second or third time so far, we are going to be busy!  - BUT we do have availability in non-key holiday dates. But it seems people are booking earlier this year. This is not only us, but across the board in France, so maybe a decision sooner rather than later to avoid missing out !

ALSO!! - If you book by the end of March 2018, we will offer a 10% discount (and more if you are a returning guest)!!!

Brive le Gaillarde (, which is the closest airport to us (c45 mins), has recently opened it doors to RyanAir, flying to and from Stansted, in Essex, as well as Airfrance/Jet2 (London City). Also for Dutch travelling to the area, RyanAir fly from Amsterdam.

Other nearby airports (Bergerac & Limoges @ c1.5 hrs driving time) and Bordeaux (2.5 hrs away), are still reliably serving the Aquitaine region.

Exchange Rate

Anybody who is considering buying a property in France this year, will be pleased to hear that the market is beginning to move again. Owners are becoming far more realistic with their prices. We have noticed an increase in house sales in the area. This combined with a levelling in Sterling / Euro exchange rates (€1.13 / £1.00 current Interbank rate) will still make it worthwhile considering France as an investment.

With a lot of people now looking for something to do (apart from seeing the sights, sunbathing etc.) some guests have expressed interest in taking part in artistic activities. Currently we are hosting Acrylic Painting Classes and we hope to organise either a once/twice a week classes or even courses in the summer, in a location nearby. (most materials provided).
