Gite news - and what's happening in our world in France (updated 15/1/2019)

 HEADLINE NEWS

We have just invested in a CosyStudio Apartment (19 sqm, suitable for 2-4 people), in the Les Contamines area of the Haute Savoie region, in the French Alps. We are only just open for business. The area is great for both winter and summer holidays, boasting a superb snow record (lasting much longer that some of the larger resorts), BUT also with mountain trails, swimming lakes and bicycle routes (we are on the Mont Blanc Trail) nearby.

Like Les Chambons, we have posted the details on a few booking websites. But to get a feel, please click on the link below and get back to us if you fancy something different OR EVEN BOTH!!

Bookings

@ 15/1/2019 Its only mid January, but in terms of bookings for this year, with a number of guests returning for a third or fourth time so far, we are going to be busy!  - BUT we do still have plenty of availability. But it seems people are booking earlier this year. This is not only us, but across the board in France, so maybe a decision sooner rather than later to avoid missing out !

ALSO!! - If you book by the end of February 2019, we will offer a 10% discount (and more if you are a returning guest)!!!

Airports

Brive le Gaillarde (www.aeroport-brive-vallee-dordogne.com), which is the closest airport to us (c45 mins), opened it doors to RyanAir, flying to and from a number of UK airports, as well as Airfrance/Jet2 (London City). Also for Dutch travelling to the area, RyanAir fly from Amsterdam.

Other nearby airports (Bergerac & Limoges @ c1.5 hrs driving time) and Bordeaux (2.5 hrs away), are still reliably serving the Aquitaine region.

Exchange Rate

Anybody who is considering buying a property in France this year, will be pleased to hear that the market is beginning to move again. Owners are becoming far more realistic with their prices. We have noticed an increase in house sales in the area. This combined with a leveling in Sterling / Euro exchange rates (€1.12 / £1.00 current Interbank rate) will still make it worthwhile considering France as an investment.

Activities

With a lot of people now looking for something to do (apart from seeing the sights, sunbathing etc.) some guests have expressed interest in taking part in artistic activities. Currently (like last year) we are hosting Acrylic Painting Classes and we hope to organise either a once/twice a week classes or even courses next summer, in a location nearby. (most materials provided).

Other News
