(What is happening locally in France for tourists)
COVID 19 has affected everybody profoundly in some form or another over the last year, obviously including the travel and vacation industries. The latest news in terms of vaccine distribution and slowly decreasing infection levels, gives us all hope that by the summer the current travel restrictions will be eased sufficiently enough to not only book, but to enjoy our very needed holidays.
We have adopted a strict cleaning and disinfection policy (which we instituted last year). Naturally we also respect social distancing and the wearing of masks when we greet our guests. Even if decreasing infection levels allow relaxing the current rules, we will continue to ensure the strict cleaning routine and maintain social distancing, until it is clear that it is well under control.
In this respect, local (the Dordogne) infection rates are very low, compared to other major cities / towns in France.
Saying that however, although we do have some bookings for this year, we are also taking (and have secured) bookings for 2022! – This is understandable given the current uncertainties!
We have invested in a CosyStudio Apartment (19 sqm, suitable for 2-4 people), in the Les Contamines area of the Haute Savoie region, in the French Alps. The area is great for both winter and summer holidays, boasting a superb snow record (lasting much longer that some of the larger resorts), BUT also with mountain trails, swimming lakes and bicycle routes (we are on the Mont Blanc Trail) nearby.
Like Les Chambons, we have posted the details on a few booking websites. But to get a feel, please click on the link below and get back to us if you fancy something different OR EVEN BOTH!!

Brive le Gaillarde (www.aeroport-brive-vallee-dordogne.com), which is the closest airport to us (c45 mins), opened it doors to RyanAir, flying to and from a number of UK airports, as well as Airfrance/Jet2 (London City). Also for Dutch travelling to the area, RyanAir fly from Amsterdam.
Other nearby airports (Bergerac & Limoges @ c1.5 hrs driving time) and Bordeaux (2.5 hrs away), are still reliably serving the Aquitaine region.
Despite the effect Brexit had on Exchange Rates, they are gradually climbing steadily and are currently €1.14 / £1.00 (current Interbank rate), will make it worthwhile considering France, not only as a holiday location but still as an investment.

In 2017, the newest local prehistoric attraction Lascaux IV, opened to acclaim. Some our guests last year, have said its the best reconstruction to date, with many new technological gadgets to enhance the experience (including a VR tour!)
Read some of our guests comments after their stay at Le Petit Chambon @Les Chambons
"Le Petit Chambon far exceeded our expectations. The Gite is light, bright, roomy and extremely comfortable. All set in idyllic, unspoilt rural France. Unlike some self-catering accommodation the kitchen is fully equipped with everything you could possibly need to cook any sort of meal.
The pool area and equipment is also excellent. Paul and Gina were extremely welcoming hosts and we have had the totally relaxing time that we anticipated. Highly recommended for a wonderful "get away from it all" holiday!"

What a welcome on our arrival to Les Chambons as Paul and Gina greeted us at the gite. They had thought of everything even down to the freshly baked loaf which was very welcome...mmmm. Once we had settled we were invited to the house for a glass of wine where we were made to feel at home as we settled into our first evening of what has been a wonderful week. We are both feeling fully relaxed and view the gite at Les Chambons as our our little bit of France if only for a week and we have enjoyed every minute of our holiday.
"It is the spacious quality of this gite that is so unusual and rarely found in accommodation for 2. We did a little sight seeing, however this holiday felt different for me. Happy to spend time here; reading books, swimming and laying in the field watching the shooting stars."

"Many thanks to Paul and Gina for your warm and generous reception. We have really enjoyed our week in your lovely, spacious gite. The weather has been glorious and we've had some very enjoyable days out, especially to La Roque St Christophe, Maison Forte de Reignac and Grotte de Tourtoirac. Wishing all who follows us as lovely a week as we have had."

Thank you to Paul and Gina for making us feel so welcome. We have had such a lovely stay, which has only strengthened our lovely thoughts for this beautiful area of France. The gite was fantastic, without doubt the best we have found - we would both love to return.
